Zoom 2.2×

Every click gets a close-up.

AfterCut follows your clicks and writes smooth zoom-and-pan keyframes for you. Each zoom sits on the timeline, where you can change its depth, smooth its curve, add motion blur, or place it by hand.

  • Cursor smoothingShaky mouse paths come out steady, with adjustable intensity.
  • Click & key highlightsEvery mouse click and keystroke lights up on screen.
  • A cursor you can seeThe cursor scales up when the view zooms in.

Caption On-device

Captions and clean audio, built in.

Speech-to-text runs on your Mac. No third-party service, no API key. Edit any segment, then set the font, size, colors, and position.

Auto Level Measures your speech, skips silence and room tone, and brings a quiet mic up to a normal level. Peaks never clip.

Export 4K · 60fps

Cut it, then ship it anywhere.

Trim dead air, splice clips, and drop in transitions — a full timeline editor without ever leaving AfterCut. Export MP4, GIF, or WebM at up to 4K 60fps with hardware-accelerated encoding.

Most updates fix things you only notice when they break.

I build AfterCut myself, as a native Mac app. Most releases have no headline: two fewer permission prompts on first launch, a Dock icon because people could not find the app, no more crash when you click Stop twice. The bigger ideas come from you — “Record more” and the teleprompter shipped because someone asked on the roadmap.

  1. v1.0.62 Aug 11, 2026 Workspace accounts. Auto Level brings a quiet mic up to speaking level.
  2. v1.0.61 Jun 14, 2026 Unplug your headphones mid-take and the recording keeps your mic.
  3. v1.0.60 May 18, 2026 Auto-zoom stops pulling out a beat too early.
  4. v1.0.57 May 13, 2026 A live border shows exactly what you are recording.
  5. v1.0.55 May 2, 2026 YouTube export, a teleprompter, and segment join.
“A special shout-out to the developers: their commitment to fixing even the smallest bugs in record time is a rare and invaluable asset.”

Questions

Is AfterCut a subscription?

No. You pay $29 once and get a lifetime license. Every future update is included.

What can I do before I pay?

Everything except export. Record, edit on the timeline, add zoom and backgrounds, and preview the result in the app. Exporting the finished video needs a license.

Which Macs does it run on?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. It is one universal app.

Which formats can I export?

MP4, GIF, and WebM, at up to 4K and 60fps, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, or the original size.

Do captions need an internet connection?

No. Speech-to-text runs on your Mac, with no third-party service and no per-minute charge.

Can my team share recordings?

Yes. Sign in to a Workspace account from the app. Your team shares one license, and each upload gets a share link with optional password protection, view counts, and timestamped comments.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of purchase if you have not exported a video yet. After an export, we look at real export problems case by case. Read the refund policy.
